Google’s Hold is Stronger in Europe than North America

Adobe Digital Index data shows that Google remains the most popular search engine for paid search in Europe. Ad spending on Google rose by 5% from Q4 2014 to Q4 2015, with Bing and Yahoo remaining steady for the duration of the same period. In North America Google is still the most popular platform for paid search ad spending, but their share only rose by 1%. Bing and Yahoo’s share is much higher, ending at 28% for Q4 2015. This shows that the North American market share is more competitive compared to Europe.

What Does this Mean for You?

If you’re looking to reach a more inaccessible audience you might want to consider ad spending on Yahoo and/or Bing. Not everyone is using Google and you could be missing out on potential clients by ignoring the not so popular search engines. This becomes even more important if you are targeting an international market.  This is a good tactic to use if you’re looking to attract the attention of customers who are not going to be influenced by ads from your competitors.
