Google Rolls Out Brand New Tab Based Local Search Panel

Google has launched the new tab-based local search panel that gives users a very quick way to reach reviews.  The new update makes it a lot easier to vide the local listings and the reviews for users.  The new tab-based panel was tested for about a month before being fully launched. It is available for mobile users; it’s quick and easy to use and provides instant information.

Two Tabs on Mobile

There are two tabs displayed on the screen, one that says ‘Overview’ and the second says ‘Review’.  The overview tab contains your Google listing information, including:

  • Your business address
  • Opening times
  • Telephone number
  • Image
  • Basic reviews

There are also additional buttons that can be pressed at the top of the tab, such as Call, Share, Website and Directions. The review tab includes the reviews you have on Facebook and the Google review summary.

The local panel update is a reminder for all businesses to claim and complete their listing on Google. If you claimed yours a while ago it’s important to check the information is correct and up to date. If you haven’t claimed yours, now is the time!

You will need to visit Google My Business enter all of your business information and agree to Google’s terms and conditions.  Complete the information and verify your business.  There are a few ways you can verify your business:

  • By postcard
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Bulk verifications
  • Instant verifications for select business only

You can also claim your business by using the Google My Business app. Make sure you sign in with the Google account that you use to manage your business.  Alternatively, visit Google Maps and search for your business. Once you find it tap on Claim this Business.
