Consumers care about their privacy. Many consumers hate having their data and browsing habits freely available. This is perhaps the main reason for the continued and rapid growth of the search engine DuckDuckGo.
DuckDuckGo is different to other search engines such as Google as it focused on privacy. They recently posted on Twitter saying that they had reached over 9 billion searches in 2018. The update follows the one from October 2018 when the search engine revealed they were achieving 30 million queries per day.
Expect to see 2019 to be the most successful year yet for DuckDuckGo. Perhaps it’s time to make sure you are there and paying attention to those customers that care about their privacy when searching online. DuckDuckGo proudly announces that they have zero profiles stored, giving their users peace of mind and confidence that their data will not be used.
DuckDuckGo served over 9 Billion private searches in 2018 (and is on pace to shatter that record in 2019)!
Despite our traffic growth, though, the number of personal profiles we store remains unchanged.

The growth of DuckDuckGo can be put down to their marketing campaigns, pushing on the privacy angle for their users. Caring about privacy has seen their market share grow and as a result more users are now beginning to pay attention.
While DuckDuckGo is still tiny compared to Google, it is important to understand what’s happening elsewhere and what consumers are reacting to. The focus of your campaigns needs to be targeted to the larger search engines, but DuckDuckGo should certainly be on your radar.
